Introducing Safety Shorts

Who: UAB Principal Investigators and Laboratory Managers

What: Short training modules on a variety of topics of interest to research scientists and hazardous materials users

When: Periodically

Where: From your PC and email account directly to your staff meetings; right in the comfort of your own laboratory

Why: Training is an integral part of laboratory safety. To make it easier for you to provide your staff with necessary training. To save you time. To allow you to document that your staff is trained. It provides a method of informing researchers of new policies and regulations.

How: A list of principal investigators and lab managers was developed so that this material could be distributed quickly to most labs on campus. Periodically members of the list will receive an email with the training material attached. If the training is relevant to your lab, please include it in your lab specific training and safety plan. All the modules will be posted to this page after distribution. That way those who missed an important posting can go back and access the information.

Hopefully, list members will provide feedback to help us provide the types of information most useful to them. Additionally, if anyone knows of a colleague who may benefit from our postings, but who is not on the list or has no email, please pass the information on to them so that they may be included in the distribution list, or access postings through the web.
