2008 Laboratory Safety Workshop The Department of Occupational Health and Safety has developed a Laboratory Safety Workshop designed to offer principal investigators, laboratory managers, supervisors and science educators an in-depth review of laboratory safety practices, UAB policies and procedures, regulatory compliance, as well as legal and liability issues. A Laboratory Safety Workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008 from 8am-5pm in the Community Health Services Building (CH19) Training Room (B-01). 2008 Hurricane Season Resources The hurricane season is upon us and it is essential to be prepared. The Emergency Email & Wireless Network has created a 2008 Hurricane Resource. This invaluable resource can be printed and posted or handed out. Click here to get the 2008 Hurricane Resource. For more information about hurricanes and how you can prepare for them, visit FEMA's Hurricane 08 Season and the National Weather Service's Hurricane Awareness. Chemicals of Interest The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) identified a list of “chemicals of interest” All UAB laboratories will conduct an inventory to determine which of these chemicals of interest are on campus and the total amounts at UAB. By regulation, this inventory is mandatory and must be completed no later than February 29, 2008. To help meet this deadline and make the inventory a little easier, OH&S has developed an online Chemical Inventory Program that meets the DHS requirements. It includes a printable list of the chemicals of interest *If you have questions about downloading files Click Here. |
